Maharashtra Govt. failed to give subsides food and free health care even after committees after committees recommended to the more than 1 million distressed families due to lack fund today passed resolution to double all pay and park of Maharashtra legislators and presiding officers of more than Rs.10 million crore without any discussion unanimously today .

‘When central Govt. has cut loan to Maharashtra Govt. to poor fiscal condition as debt over the state has crossed RS.2Lacs thousand crore and state is over drawing it’s R.B.I. limit for payment of it’s babaus and all relief aid is being denied due to lack fund,the bankrupt Govt. is giving mega package to it’s legislators is nothing but open robbery to public treasury and brazen misuse of power and highly objectionable and unwanted should be taken back immediately’ Kishor Tiwari of vidarbha Janandolan Samiti (VJAS) informed in press release today.

“We want bring the attention Maharashtra Govt. that according recent report of When we were asking ministers including chief minister and his deputy chief minister to visit single house of these farmers to know the reason of suicides ,we thought very active opposition leader like you will visit house of this ill fated farmer’s family but nobody from opposition failed to do so.

VJAS has brought another shocking fact before the chief minister that more than 70% finance for cotton crop cultivation is given by private micro finance institutes MFI as against Rs.9600 crore total cost of cultivation ,state owned banks have given only Rs.1460 crore which has been most disturbing facts that is adding fuel in the despair of farmers as MFI style of finance and recoveries are through local self help group(SHG) which are now acting as shelf recovery group(SRG) which needs to be banned immediately to stop innocent victimization debt trapped cotton farmers.

‘The cotton crop failure in Maharashtra is very serious issue but in the recent announcement the on Maharashtra agrarian crisis and Rs.1000 crore bail out package have not covered hence we have approached chief minister who is keen to bring Maharashtra agrarian economy on track and wants to stop on going cotton farmers suicides. VJAS has promised all constructive help to the Maharashtra chief minister if he is really serious to address the mass genocide of farming community as cotton farmers economic crisis is policy driven not the nature driven ’Tiwari assured . Even Maharashtra is set give record production of cotton due heavy increase in cultivation area, the cost of cultivation which has reached to record Rs.40,000/- per hector has completely disturbed economic stability of the reason more it has spread agrarian crisis to other part of Maharashtra from west vidarbha but this serious issue is being ignored by Maharashtra administration hence we have written to chief minister so that the corrective action to bail out more than 5 million farmers can be taken ,VJAS added in press release .

“Though the market prices are above Rs.4000/- per quintal much above the minimum support price of the state, till farmers are loosing Rs.12,000/- per hector thanks to the exploitation of private traders and non-intervention of Maharashtra cotton federation when international prices are above RS.500/- per quintal” Tiwari said.

सर्वत्र भ्रष्टाचाराचे अराजक माजले आहे. सत्य- सचोटीचा दुष्काळ पडला आहे. सज्जन माणूस आता शोधूनही सापडणार नाही असे वातावरण असताना शनिवारी संध्याकाळी एक सज्जन माणूस स्वत:च्या पायाने चालत माझ्याकडे आला. डॉ. तात्याराव लहाने असे त्यांचे नाव. हिंदुस्थान सरकारने त्यांना ‘पद्मश्री’ देऊन सन्मान केला. त्या ‘पद्मश्री’ंची सरकारी माळ जे. जे. इस्पितळाच्या नेत्र विभागात ठेवून डॉ. लहानेंची पायपीट सुरू आहे.
‘प्रभादेवीच्या गल्लीत काय करताय?’
‘समोर राष्ट्रवादीचे कार्यकर्ते रमेश परब यांनी एक कार्यक्रम ठेवला आहे. शरद पवारांच्या वाढदिवसानिमित्त. ग्रामविकासमंत्री पाटील येणार आहेत. त्यांना यायला उशीर होतोय. म्हणून ‘सामना’त वळलो. मंत्री आले तर ठीक, नाहीतर भाषण ठोकून निघून जाईन,’ तात्यांनी त्यांच्या मिश्किल शैलीत ठोकून दिले. महाराष्ट्रातील सर्वात मोठ्या जे. जे. इस्पितळाचे ते डीन झाले आहेत. तरीही रोज सकाळी ९ वाजता न चुकता ‘नेत्ररोग’ विभागात जातात व रुग्णांना तपासतात. शस्त्रक्रिया करतात. डॉ. लहाने यांचे मोठेपण असे की, गाव-खेड्यातून येणार्‍या प्रत्येकाला ते भेटतात व डोळ्यांवरील अंधाराचे पडदे दूर करतात. तात्याराव लहाने अंधश्रद्धेचे विरोधक, पण गाव-खेड्यातल्या रुग्णांची या डॉक्टरांवर अंधश्रद्धा. लहान्यांचा हात डोळ्यास लागला की दृष्टी परत येईल या श्रद्धेतून रोज असंख्य दृष्टिहीन महाराष्ट्राच्या कानाकोपर्‍यातून जे. जे.त येतात. हे चित्र गेली अनेक वर्षे मी पाहतो आहे. ‘तात्या, डीन झालात. आता विद्यापीठाचे कुलगुरू कधी होणार?’ माझा प्रश्‍न.
‘अद्यापि रिटायरमेंटला वेळ आहे. नुसते कुलगुरूपद घेऊन काय मिरवायचे? विचारले तर नकोच सांगतो. सध्या गरज नाही. कुलगुरूपद म्हणजे निवृत्तीच्या उंबरठ्यावरचे उद्योग. अद्यापि भरपूर काम करायचे आहे. शस्त्रक्रिया करायच्या आहेत.’
‘आरोग्य विज्ञानपीठाच्या कुलगुरूपदी तुम्हीच योग्य आहात.’
‘बरेचजण रांगेत आहेत. त्यांना होऊ द्या. गाव-खेड्यातल्या गरीब दृष्टिहीनांची सेवा मला करू द्या. तुमचे ‘युती’चे राज्य येईल तेव्हा पाहिजे तर कुलगुरू होऊ.’ तात्या.
तात्याराव लहाने यांना कुलगुरूपद नको आहे. ते ज्या खुर्चीवर बसलेत ती खुर्ची आपोआप कुलगुरूंची होते. हजारोंच्या डोळ्यांतला अंधकार दूर करून त्यांनी विश्‍व प्रकाशमान केले त्या विश्‍वाचे ते कुलगुरूच आहेत.
हे भाग्य कुणाला मिळाले?
विष पचवणारा धर्मात्मा!
फक्त एका ‘किडनी’वर त्यांचे आयुष्य उभे आहे. हिमालय पर्वत जणू समाजकार्याच्या करंगळीवरच तोलला आहे. गावात कुणीतरी विषप्रयोग केला. दोन्ही किडन्या निकामी झाल्या. तात्यारावांच्या मातेने स्वत:ची किडनी दिली. त्या मातेच्या किडनीचे ऋण ते फेडत आहेत. ‘माझे शरीर, माझे जीवन, माझा आत्मा त्या किडनीरूपी मातेचा. मातेच्या ममतेनेच सेवा करायची’ असेच जणू त्यांनी ठरवले. जे. जे. इस्पितळ म्हणजे महाराष्ट्रातील सर्वात मोठे वैद्यकीय साम्राज्य. या साम्राज्याच्या सर्वोच्च खुर्चीवर ते बसले. तात्यांना अपयशी ठरविण्याचे कारस्थानी विषप्रयोग येथेही झाले. ‘जेथे खरे विष पचवून इतके वर्षे जगतो आहे तेथे कारस्थानांचे विष मला कसे मारणार?’ असे त्यावर डॉक्टरांचे उत्तर.
‘डीन म्हणून जे.जे.ला शिस्त लावली हे बरोबर. पण नवीन काय केलेत?’ यावर तात्याराव म्हणाले, ‘रुग्णांच्या जेवणाची क्वालिटी सुधारली. भाजी आणि आमटीला फोडणीच दिली जात नव्हती. रुग्णांच्या जेवणात ३० मि. ग्रॅम तेल हवेच! तेलाच्या फोडणीशिवाय बेचव जेवण होतं. मी स्वत: भटारखान्यात उभा राहिलो. चार ठिकाणी आता फोडणी दिली जाते. जे.जे.तले तेल आता जे.जे.तल्या जेवणातल्या फोडणीतच वापरतात.’ डॉक्टरांनी हसत सांगितले.
‘मी स्वत: सकाळी ९ वाजता पोहोचतो. जे.जे.तल्या कर्मचार्‍यांनी निदान साडेनऊ वाजता तरी यावे. त्यामुळे ९.३० नंतर कामावर येणार्‍यांचे स्वागत मी ‘गुड आफ्टरनून’ने करतो.
‘गुड आफ्टरनून’ची मात्रा जे.जे.त लागू पडली आणि रुग्णांच्या जेवणाला तेलाची फोडणीही मिळाली. डॉ. लहाने यांचा नेत्र महायज्ञ अव्याहत सुरूच आहे!
डॉ. लहाने यांचा आयुष्याचा मंत्र कसा? हजरत अलीने सांगितल्याप्रमाणे, ‘तुम अच्छा करो और जमाना तुमको बुरा समझे यह तुम्हारे हक मे बेहतर है. बजाय इसके की तुम बुरा करो और जमाना तुमको अच्छा समझे.’
‘लोकांनी माझा उदो उदो करावा म्हणून माझे जीवन नाही. काम करीत राहायचे. बरे-वाईट लोकांनी ठरवायचे. फोडणीचे तेल ज्याचे त्यालाच मिळावे यासाठीच मी राबतोय!’

या सर्व लोकांनी आपला अधिकार व पदाचा वापर करून जमिनींचे मूळ ‘रिझर्व्हेशन’च बदलले. न्यायसागर, रेणुका व अन्य एका इमारतीसाठी तेथील नाला बंद केला. हे तीनही भूखंड आधी क्रीडा व मनोरंजनासाठी राखीव होते. त्यांचे मूळ आरक्षणच बदलण्यात आले. हे सर्व भूखंड कवडीभावाने देण्यात आले. या सर्व इमारती आज तयार आहेत. त्यातील बहुतेक फ्लॅट मूळ मालकांनी भाड्याने देऊन मासिक उत्पन्नाची अधिकृत सोय केली. न्यायमूर्ती, मंत्रालयातले बडे अधिकारी आणि आमदार-खासदार या तीन गटांतील लोक आपल्या पदांचा गैरउपयोग करून, दबाव आणून कफ परेड, नरीमन पॉइंट, वांद्रे रिक्लेमेशन परिसरातील गरीबांसाठी राखीव ठेवलेल्या महागड्या जमिनी गिळंकृत करतात. ते थांबले पाहिजे. बेघर श्रीमंत असो की गरीब, त्यांनाही सामान्य लोकांप्रमाणेच ‘म्हाडा’च्या रांगेत उभे करा. लॉटरी पद्धतीने भूखंड आणि घरे द्या.

Nagpur, Dec 14 (IANS) Farmers of Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region have urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to sack Vilasrao Deshmukh as heavy industries minister after the Supreme Court Tuesday pulled him up for interfering in the enforcement of a law to regulate private money lending in the state. “We have written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and requested him to sack Deshmukh and take possible legal action against him,” said Kishor Tiwari, president of the Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti (VJAS), an NGO that protects the rights of farmers and farm widows of the region.

“Local legislators are getting political protection with the help of top leaders and are exploiting the debt-trapped farmers who are committing suicide,” Tiwari added.

The Supreme Court Tuesday reprimanded the former Maharashtra chief minister.

Speaking for the bench, Justice Asok Kumar Ganguly dismissed the Maharashtra government’s appeal challenging the Bombay High Court order indicting Deshmukh and imposing a fine of Rs.25,000.

Dismissing the appeal, the apex court enhanced the fine to Rs.10 lakh.

Deshmukh invited the reprimand of the apex court for interfering with the police action on a complaint by farmers alleging family members of Congress MLA Dilip Kumar Sananda were involved in money lending.

Deshmukh’s private secretary Ambadas had asked the police not to register a FIR on the complaint of the farmers. This instruction of Ambadas was recorded in the police diary.

The judgement came after a petition was filed by Sarnagdharsingh Chavan representing the Vidarbha farmers, who had sought quashing of Deshmukh’s directions to stall investigations against Sananda.

YAVATMAL: By giving a superfluous figure pertaining to farmers' suicides in the state, rehabilitation minister Patangrao Kadam has not only misled the house but hurt the sentiments of the toiling masses trapped in the long drawn out agrarian crisis, claimed Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti president and noted farm activist Kishor Tiwari in a press release on Saturday.

"We strongly object to the written reply of rehabilitation minister Patangrao Kadam that 4,427 debt-ridden farmers in Vidarbha have committed suicide between 2001 and October 31, 2010, since the figures do not reflect the reality," Tiwari said, adding that of these, 991 suicides were said to have occurred in 2009.

"Rehabilitation minister Patangrao Kadam's reply totally contradicts the figures provided by the National Crime Records Bureau, and the Vasantrao Naik Sheti Swavlamban Mission (VNSS). The minister's reply claims that the lowest number of suicides, 991, have been recorded in 2010 and 2009, despite the fact that the true picture is much higher than the figure provided by the administration to the minister."

This is unfortunate and another attempt to ignore Vidarbha's agrarian crisis, Tiwari has said.

According to Tiwari, the official figure of farmers suicides provided by National Crime Records Bureau and Vasantrao Naik Sheti Swavlamban Mission are self explanatory.

"We want to draw the attention of the Maharashtra government to the recent report of National Crime Records Bureau, according to which farmers suicides figure of the nation since 1997 will cross 50,000 mark this year. This is a very gloomy picture of the agrarian crisis, which has already begun to spread all over Maharashtra," Tiwari said, adding that only an aggressive long-term policy can stop the suicides by innocent farmers.

"Even this year, over 42 lakh farmers in the state have opted for Bt-cotton in anticipation of a better yield. But they have now been pushed to the wall as a result of excessive as well as unseasonal rain damaging crops coupled with increased cost of pesticide and fertilisers," said Tiwari.

Tiwari has also alleged that the Rs 1,000 crore fresh package announced by the chief minister would not help cotton farmers of Vidarbha, whereas it would help grape, onion and cane growers of Western Maharashtra.

The farm activist also wanted to know how the government could complete the stupendous task of evaluating crop losses in a record time of 72 hours, despite the small number of staffers for the job. "This shows the hypocrisy of the state government and lays bare its intention of not addressing the real issue or ensuring financial support to the hard hit. Tiwari has also challenged the minister to come out for a public debate.

"The corruption ridden administration headed by the bureaucrats have pocketed a major share of the special packages, and I demand a CBI probe into the murky affairs at the Mantralaya and district administration," Tiwari has said.

MUMBAI: The government, which has announced a compensation package of Rs 1,000 crore for the crop damage caused by unseasonal rains, has been accused of making a mockery of farmer suicides.

The Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti alleged that the state grossly understated the farmer suicides. Relief and rehabilitation minister Patangrao Kadam had claimed that 4,400-odd farmers had committed suicide in the state over the past 10 years.

Samiti president Kishore Tiwari referred to reports of the National Crime Records Bureau and the Vasantrao Naik Shetkari Swabhimaan Mission to claim that more than 8,000 farmers committed suicide in the said period. "This shows the lack of seriousness of the government towards farmer welfare," Tiwari said.

The Samiti has decided to approach the opposition parties on the issue. "We will ask them to raise the issue in the assembly and demand an apology from the minister. The source of the incorrect data must be revealed too," Tiwari said.

Even Maharashtra is set give record production of cotton due heavy increase in cultivation area, the cost of cultivation which has reached to record Rs.40,000/- per hector has completely disturbed economic stability of the reason more it has spread agrarian crisis to other part of Maharashtra from west vidarbha but this serious issue is being ignored by Maharashtra administration hence we have written to chief minister so that the corrective action to bail out more than 5 million farmers can be taken ,VJAS added in press release .

“Though the market prices are above Rs.4000/- per quintal much above the minimum support price of the state, till farmers are loosing Rs.12,000/- per hector thanks to the exploitation of private traders and non-intervention of Maharashtra cotton federation when international prices are above RS.500/- per quintal” Tiwari said.

VJAS has brought another shocking fact before the chief minister that more than 70% finance for cotton crop cultivation is given by private micro finance institutes MFI as against Rs.9600 crore total cost of cultivation ,state owned banks have given only Rs.1460 crore which has been most disturbing facts that is adding fuel in the despair of farmers as MFI style of finance and recoveries are through local self help group(SHG) which are now acting as shelf recovery group(SRG) which needs to be banned immediately to stop innocent victimization debt trapped cotton farmers.

‘The cotton crop failure in Maharashtra is very serious issue but in the recent announcement the on Maharashtra agrarian crisis and Rs.1000 crore bail out package have not covered hence we have approached chief minister who is keen to bring Maharashtra agrarian economy on track and wants to stop on going cotton farmers suicides. VJAS has promised all constructive help to the Maharashtra chief minister if he is really serious to address the mass genocide of farming community as cotton farmers economic crisis is policy driven not the nature driven ’Tiwari assured .
