Veteran Vidarbha farm activist Kishore Tiwari on Friday expressed serious concern over the alarming rise in farmer suicides in Yavatmal district, stating that 102 farmers have died by suicide during the first four months of 2026, exposing what he described as the “complete collapse of the agrarian support system and government failure to protect distressed farmers.”

In a strongly worded statement issued here, Tiwari alleged that the continued farmer suicides in Vidarbha were not isolated incidents but the direct consequence of failed agricultural policies, denial of institutional credit, crop insurance failures, rising cultivation costs, and prolonged government neglect.

According to official district administration figures cited by Tiwari, Yavatmal recorded 21 farmer suicides in January, 28 in February, 24 in March, 27 in April, and 4 more cases during the first week of May 2026, taking the total to 102 suicides this year so far.

Tiwari stated that since 2001, Yavatmal district alone has witnessed 6,622 farmer suicides, making it one of the worst agrarian distress regions in the country.

“These are not mere statistics. Every suicide represents the destruction of an entire farming family and reflects the deepening collapse of the rural economy,” Tiwari said.

He alleged that many of the deceased farmers had been denied crop loans by banks, excluded from crop insurance compensation, and pushed into severe debt burdens due to repeated crop failures and unstable market prices.

“Farmers are being systematically denied institutional support while private debt and economic distress continue to increase. The government cannot escape responsibility for these deaths,” he said.

Tiwari said Yavatmal, located in the drought-prone cotton-growing belt of Vidarbha, remains heavily dependent on rain-fed agriculture and suffers from severe irrigation shortages. He added that rising input costs, expensive BT cotton seeds, lack of assured remunerative prices, and absence of effective crop diversification policies had further intensified the crisis.

Criticizing both the Maharashtra and Union Governments, Tiwari said repeated announcements of relief schemes had failed to provide meaningful support at the grassroots level.

“The rural credit system has collapsed, crop insurance mechanisms have lost credibility, and agricultural policies are increasingly working against small and marginal farmers,” he alleged.

Tiwari demanded immediate implementation of his proposed “Integrated Farmer Suicide Eradication Programme,” which includes universal access to low-interest crop loans, debt restructuring, guaranteed remunerative prices, transparent crop insurance systems, irrigation expansion projects, direct income support, and rehabilitation measures for affected families.

He also demanded that Yavatmal be immediately declared an “Agrarian Disaster District” and warned that continued government inaction could trigger large-scale farmer protests across Vidarbha.

“102 farmer suicides are not just numbers; they reflect growing anger and despair in rural India. If immediate corrective measures are not taken, the situation may lead to widespread social unrest,” Tiwari warned.

He further stated that farmers no longer want “symbolic announcements and hollow assurances,” but immediate economic relief, policy reforms, and protection of their right to survive with dignity.

ज्याप्रमाणे अमरावती जिल्ह्यातील "लव जिहाद" , "धर्मांतर" किंवा "हिंदू मुलींचा छळ" हे भाजपच्या नेत्यांनी केलेले आरोप हे हिंदू मुस्लिम दंगली घडविण्याचा प्रकार आहे असा खुलासा मंत्री दर्जा प्राप्त महाराष्ट्र अल्पसंख्यांय आयोगाचे अध्यक्ष प्यारेखान यांनी करून संपुर्ण प्रकरणाची सत्यता जगासमोर आणली त्याचप्रमाणे यवतमाळ जिल्ह्यातील राळेगाव तालुक्यातून गेल्या सहा महिन्यांत ३४ आदिवासी मुली बेपत्ता झाल्याचा दावा भाजप नेत्यांनी केलेला गंभीर आरोप  तसेच एकही  मुलीचे  परराज्यात विकल्याचा आणि मानवी तस्करीचे  झाल्याचे सर्व आरोप बिनबुडाचे असुन खोटे असुन यवतमाळ पोलीस अधीक्षक यांचा माहितीच्या आधारे भाजप आमदार राजू तोडसाम यांनी एक  व्हिडिओ  समाज माध्यमांवर प्रकाशित करून संपूर्ण प्रकरणाची सत्यता जगासमोर आणली मात्र महाराष्ट्राचे मुख्यमंत्री व गृहमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांनी भाजप आमदार राजू तोडसाम यांना आपल्या नागपूर मुक्कामी घरी बोलावून आपण फेसबुक ठेवलेला व्हिडिओ काढा असा आदेश दिला असल्याने सध्या भाजप आमदार राजू तोडसाम यांनी मौन धारण केले असुन असाच निरोप अल्पसंख्यांय आयोगाचे अध्यक्ष प्यारेखान याना मुख्यमंत्र्यानी दिला असल्याचे गंभीर आरोप सामाजिक कार्यकर्ते किशोर तिवारी यांनी केला आहे. .

आपल्या निवेदनात किशोर तिवारी यांनी म्हटले आहे की "सध्या आपल्या महाराष्ट्र राज्यात सत्ताधारी भाजपा चे नेत्यांनी एकच उद्योग उघडला आहे की एखाद्या प्रकरणात चुकूनही एखादा अल्प संख्याक किंवा दलीत व्यक्ती त्या प्रकरणात कथित आरोपी असल्याचे थोडेही समजले की ही नेते बिळातून निघून असल्या प्रकरणात"लव जिहाद" , "धर्मांतर" किंवा "हिंदू मुलींचा छळ" असे बेछूट आरोप करून संपूर्ण अल्प संख्याक किंवा अदिवासी -दलीत समाजाला आरोपी ठरविण्याचे काम करून सांप्रदायिक व जातीय तेढ कसा निर्माण करून  हिंदुंना भडकावून मोर्चे , बंद आदी प्रकार करून पोलिस यंत्रणेवर एक प्रकारे दबाव निर्माण करतात. असेच प्रकार अमरावती, नाशिक, नागपूर व आता यवतमाळ जिल्ह्यात सुद्धा समोर आले आहे. हे सर्व खूप किळसवाणे व माणुसकीला काळीमा फासणारे प्रकार आहेत, ज्यात एखाद्या माथेफिरू कथित आरोपी व्यक्ती च्या चुकीची सजा व मिडिया ट्रायल संपूर्ण अल्प संख्याक किंवा आदीवासी  समाजाला भोगावी लागत आहे ,राळेगाव येथील प्रकरण सुद्धा असेच अतिरंजित करून चुकीच्या प्रकारे मिडिया मध्ये समोर आण्यात आले .भाजपा नेत्यांचा हा कुटिल धंदा एक प्रकारे चिथावणीचाच प्रकार असून धार्मिक व सामाजिक तणाव बिघडविण्याचे असे प्रकार महाराष्ट्राचे गृहमंत्री आपल्या पोलिसांच्या  राजश्रयात करू देत आहेत , ते वेळीच रोखले पाहिजे, अशी आमची मागणी आहे.

आज पोलीस अधिकारी ३४आदिवासी  मुलींना परराज्यात विकल्याचा आणि मानवी तस्करीचे  एकही तक्रार नाही, आम्ही चौकशी बंद केली आहे तसेच प्रकरणात पोलिसांनी एकही आरोपीला अटक केला नाही व पोलिसात आज पर्यंत एकही तक्रार दाखल करण्यात आलेली नाही. आज पर्यंत एकही केस भाजप नेत्यांनी दिली नाही, सारे आरोप फक्त मीडिया मध्येच होत आहेत. पोलीस प्रशासनाने संपूर्ण चौकशी करून फाईल बंद केली आहे, अशी  माहिती चौकशी अधिकारी उपविभागीय पोलीस अधिकारी रॉबिन बंसल यांनी स दिली आहे मात्र आता यवतमाळ जिल्ह्या भाजप अध्यक्ष वकील प्रफुल्ल चव्हाण यांनी राळेगाव तालुक्यातील हिंदू धर्माच्या मुली विक्रीचे प्रकरण आहे माध्यमांनी आदिवासी मुली चुकीने प्रकाशित केले अशी भूमिका घेत आहेत मात्र यवतमाळ  पोलीस यांनी मुख्यमंत्र्याच्या दबावात  प्रफुल्ल चव्हाण यांची वाढीव चौकशी सुद्धा केली नाही हा सर्व प्रकार भाजप सरकारच्या अतिरेकी कारभार जगासमोर आणत आहे असा आरोप किशोर तिवारी यांनी यावेळी दिला .

यवतमाळ जिल्ह्यातील राळेगाव तालुक्यातून गेल्या सहा महिन्यांत ३४ आदिवासी मुली बेपत्ता झाल्याचा दावा भाजप नेत्यांनी केला असून व  या मुलींना परराज्यात विकल्याचा आणि मानवी तस्करीचे  गंभीर आरोप केले आहेत . ३४ आदिवासी मुली बेपत्ता झाल्याचा दावा भाजप जिल्हाध्यक्ष प्रफुल चव्हाण आणि आमदार अशोक उईके यांनी केला  असल्यामुळे व राज्यात देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांच्या नेतृत्वात भाजपचे सरकार असल्यामुळे नाशीक व अमरावती नंतर आता याचा संबंध राज्यस्तरीय आहे हे सत्य शोधन करण्यासाठी महिला अधिकार कार्यकर्त्या ,समाज सुधारक प्रसिद्ध लेखक डॉ लीलाताई भेले यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखाली समिती त्यामध्ये आदिवासी महिला नेत्या संध्याताई मडावी ,आदिवासी नेते अंकित नैताम हे येत्या २४ एप्रिल राळेगाव येथे भेट देणार असल्याची माहीती सामाजिक कार्यकर्ते किशोर तिवारी यांनी दिली आहे .

वरील आरोप यवतमाळ जिल्ह्याचे भाजप जिल्हाध्यक्ष प्रफुल चव्हाण हे स्वतः वकील असुन दुसरे आरोप करणारे महाराष्ट्राचे आदिवासी मंत्री डॉ अशोक उईके असुन त्यांचे सहकारी गृहमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस आहेत त्यामुळे जे काम विरोधकांनी करावे ते काम सरकारचे आदिवासी मंत्री करीत आहेत  या घटनेच्या निषेधार्थ आणि तात्काळ कारवाईच्या मागणीसाठी राळेगाव बंद पाळण्यात आला होता व  या प्रकरणाशी संबंधित एक संशयास्पद ऑडिओ क्लिप समोर आल्याचा दावा केला जात आहे, ज्यामध्ये मुलींच्या विक्रीचा उल्लेख असल्याचा आरोप करण्यात येत आहेत यामुळे अख्ख्या जिल्ह्यात या घटनेवर गंभीर चिंता व्यक्त केली ज्यात  असुन त्यामुळे  याप्रकरणी सखोल चौकशीची आवश्यकता असुन यामुळे  सत्य शोधक समिती भेट देत आहे अशी माहिती किशोर तिवारी यांनी दिली आहे.

आज अमेरिकेचे अध्यक्ष डोनाल्ड ट्रम्प यांनी इराण, इस्रायल आणि अमेरिका यांच्यातील युद्धात शस्त्रसंधीची घोषणा केली,चर्चेची सुरुवात पाकिस्तान आणि तुर्कस्तानने केली होती व या इराणने शस्त्रसंधीचे  संपूर्ण श्रेय पाकिस्थानला  दिले असून कृतज्ञताही व्यक्त केली आहे. मात्र, स्वतःला विश्वगुरु   म्हणवणाऱ्या भारताच्या कमकुवत परराष्ट्र धोरणामुळे आणि ४० दिवसांच्या मौनामुळे, ब्रिक्सच्या अध्यक्षांनी इराणसारख्या ब्रिक्स सदस्य देशात शांतता प्रस्थापित करण्यासाठी पुढाकार घेतला नाही, ही अत्यंत शरमेची बाब आहे अशी तीव्र शब्दात  प्रतिक्रिया राजकीय विश्लेषक आणि महाराष्ट्रातील शेतकरी नेते किशोर तिवारी यांची व्यक्त केली आहे

Vidarbha's farmers' custodian, former Chairman of the Maharashtra Farmers' Mission, and President of the Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti (VJAS), Kishore Tiwari, today said that the deaths of 456 farmers by suicide in Yavatmal district during the last 18 months, including 126 during the first six months of 2026, demonstrate that Maharashtra's agrarian crisis has reached the level of a humanitarian emergency.indian prime minister Narendra modi urged by dying farmers of yavatmal to revisit yavatmal and save them from these genocide.

Tiwari said these deaths are not merely statistics but compelling evidence of the continuing collapse of the rural economy and the failure of agricultural policies to protect India's small and marginal farmers. farmers across Vidarbha are facing an unprecedented economic, social and psychological crisis. Repeated announcements of farm loan waivers, financial relief packages and welfare schemes have failed to bring meaningful structural change to the lives of distressed farming families.

Tiwari said the crisis was tragically illustrated on the very day Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a fresh farm loan waiver. On that day alone, five distressed farmers from Yavatmal district—Sudhakar Thackeray of Aloda, Ramrao Gavhale of Niganur, Arun Gavande of Kini, Ramesh Alchewar of Bhad Umri and Sukhdev Thackeray of Bhojala—died by suicide. Tiwari said this heartbreaking coincidence reflects the widening gap between official announcements and the harsh realities confronting farmers in rural Maharashtra.Every farmer's suicide destroys an entire family. Widows lose their partners, children lose educational opportunities, elderly parents lose their support, and entire households are pushed into deeper poverty and indebtedness.

Tiwari said farmer suicides are not personal failures but the consequence of persistent public policy failures. Rising cultivation costs, unstable agricultural markets, climate uncertainty, inadequate institutional credit, and ineffective crop insurance have trapped millions of farmers in a cycle of debt and despair.

Tiwari alleged that both the ruling establishment and the opposition have failed to treat the agrarian crisis with the urgency it deserves as political attention has increasingly shifted toward urban infrastructure while the survival of rural India has been neglected.

Tiwari said governments continue investing billions of rupees in metropolitan infrastructure, metro rail systems, expressways and other large construction projects, while investment in dryland agriculture, irrigation, rural healthcare, public education, agricultural research and village development has remained inadequate. This widening imbalance is deepening economic inequality between urban and rural India.

Tiwari said the fundamental economic reality of Indian agriculture remains unchanged: the cost of cultivation continues to rise while farmers are denied reliable and remunerative prices for their produce. As a result, millions of small and marginal farmers are struggling simply to survive.

Tiwari identified the principal causes behind the continuing agrarian crisis:

• Failure to ensure universal and timely institutional crop credit for eligible farmers.
• Escalating prices of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, diesel, electricity, labour and agricultural machinery.
• Failure to provide a legally guaranteed and remunerative Minimum Support Price (MSP) based on the full cost of cultivation.
• Ineffective implementation of crop insurance and delays in compensation.
• Repeated crop failures caused by climate change, erratic rainfall, droughts and extreme weather events.
• Administrative delays, allegations of corruption and poor implementation of agricultural welfare programmes.
• Inadequate public investment in irrigation, water conservation and climate-resilient agriculture.

Tiwari said the continuing farmer suicides are no longer merely a regional or state issue. Tiwari said they represent a national and global challenge involving food security, rural livelihoods, climate resilience, sustainable development and human rights and urged the United Nations system, international media organisations, development agencies, agricultural economists, human rights institutions and global policymakers should recognise India's farmer suicide crisis as a serious humanitarian concern requiring sustained international attention.

Tiwari demanded the following immediate structural reforms:

1. Universal access to affordable institutional crop credit for every eligible farmer.
2. A legally guaranteed remunerative Minimum Support Price based on the comprehensive cost of cultivation with a reasonable profit margin.
3. Effective regulation of prices of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and all essential agricultural inputs.
4. Independent investigations into allegations of corruption and administrative negligence in the implementation of agricultural schemes.
5. Time-bound compensation for crop losses and comprehensive rehabilitation of families affected by farmer suicides.
6. Independent District Agrarian Distress Monitoring Committees with meaningful farmer representation.
7. A comprehensive long-term National Agrarian Reform Policy to eliminate the structural causes of rural indebtedness and agrarian distress.

Governments must stop treating farmer suicides as isolated incidents as these deaths are the cumulative consequence of decades of policy failures and require comprehensive structural reforms rather than periodic announcements and temporary relief measures.

Tiwari said, "History will not judge governments by the number of expressways, metro rail systems or mega infrastructure projects they build. It will judge them by whether they protected the lives, dignity and future of the farmers who feed the nation. A farmer's suicide is not merely the death of an individual—it is a moral indictment of public policy and a profound failure of governance. Every farmer lost is a loss to humanity itself."

हाल ही में हुए नगर परिषद्  और नगर पंचायत चुनावों में, महायुति की भाजपा और शिंदे सेना ,अजीत पवार राष्ट्रवादी  पार्टियों ने हर वोटर को खरीदकर और मुस्लिम वोटरों को वोट न देने के लिए पैसे बांटकर सारे चुनाव जीते। अब, वोटरों को खरीदे बिना सिर्फ़ विपक्षी उम्मीदवारों को खरीदने का "राहुल नार्वेकर पैटर्न" पूरे महाराष्ट्र में शुरू हो गया है। भारत रत्न बाबासाहेब अंबेडकर द्वारा संविधान के ज़रिए दी गई प्रजातंत्र सत्तारूढ़  पार्टी  तानाशाही  में बदला रही है। जबकि भजपा की बी टीम ओवैसी और राज ठाकरे चुनावों में हिंदू, मुस्लिम और मराठी अमराठी का मुद्दा उठाकर महायुति पार्टियों के लिए जीत का रास्ता बना रहे हैं, अब सुजान  मतदाताओंके  के पास प्रजातंत्र को ज़िंदा रखने का एकमात्र विकल्प  कांग्रेस ही बचा है और किसान नेता किशोर तिवारी  कांग्रेस को वोट देने की अपील की है।

२०२५ में जब विदर्भ में हर दिन ४  मराठी किसान आत्महत्या कर रहे होंगे, तब "ठाकरे भाइयों" को मराठी लोगों की याद क्यों नहीं आती?

जिन मराठी लोगों को पिछले साल २०२५ में २००९ किसानों नए   पश्चिमी विदर्भ में  की आत्महत्या की गई थी,पर ठाकरे बंधू एक भी मराठी किसान घर नहीं गए और जब  मराठी लोगों के मुंबई से विस्थापन कर रहे है उसपर शिवसेना मनसे ने विस्थापन हर वक्त मौन रखा , भाजपा और राज ठाकरे की धार्मिक और भाषाई नफ़रत फैलाकर  अशांति पैदा कर रहे है ,  नमाज़ और अज़ान का मुद्दा उठाकर मुस्लिम समुदाय को परेशान कर रहे हैं।मुंबई में शांति सर्व धर्म सदभाव और विकास के लिए कांग्रेस मजबुत करना समय की मांग है। 

अंबानी के बेटे की शादी में नाचने और अडानी से डोनेशन लेने वाले "ठाकरे ब्रदर्स" का गुजराती विरोध दिखावा है।

ठाकरे बंधु का गौतम अडानी, से  समय-समय पर डोनेशन लेना और मुकेश अंबानी के बेटे की शादी में नाचना  एक मराठी माणूस मुर्ख बनाना है  उनका अडानी-अंबानी विरोध यश एक  पाखंड है और पिछले ३  सालों में मुंबई की हज़ारों एकड़ ज़मीन अडानी को महाराष्ट्र सर्कार देने पर  "ठाकरे ब्रदर्स" की चुप्पी एक रहस्य है। पिछले २५  सालों में मुंबई के विकास पर वोट न मांगते हुए  धर्म, भाषा और जाति वोट मांगना अनुचित है।  बिहारी उत्तर भारतीय गुजराती तमिल बोलने वाले लोगों को धमकाने का यह काम राज ठाकरे का अमराठी वोटरों को भाजपा  की तरफ मोड़ने का काम है और भाजपा की तानाशाही  रोकने के लिए कांग्रेस ही एकमात्र विकल्प है, जो सभी धर्मों, भाषा और जाति के वोटरों के हितोंमे है जबकी भाजपा लोकतंत्र विरोधी तानाशाही अडानी अम्बानी का राज ला रही है। किशोर तिवारी ने आने वाले चुनावों में कांग्रेस को मज़बूत करने की गुज़ारिश की है।

India’s Dying Field (West Vidarbha) Record 2009 Farmer Suicides 2025

Epicenter and capital farm suicide in India west Vidarbha which is most backward agrarian crisis hit region has reported into 2025, for the first time since 2001, a record 2009 drought-affected and indebted farmers suicide. This is the largest incident of farmer genocide on a global scale. The BJP government at the centre and state, the administrative machinery, and all political parties have remained silent, and the entire year 2025 was spent solely in the hustle and bustle of parliamentary ,assembly and local body elections. All political parties showered promises, but the serious issue of farmer suicides vanished into thin air, expressed Kishore Tiwari, an activist who has been continuously working on the serious issue of farmer suicides and the agricultural crisis for the past 30 years.

Reasons for the record number of farmer suicides in 2025:

The farmer suicide-affected areas in West Vidarbha include Yavatmal, Amravati, Akola, Washim, and Buldhana districts and administratively, the Wardha district of East Vidarbha ,they are mostly dryad farmers depends upon the nature global climate.In West Vidarbha, cotton is cultivated in 45 percent of the area, soybeans in 40 percent, and various pulses and sorghum in the remaining area. This year, from June 3rd to November 12th, continuous rains wreaked havoc. The government provided compensation twice, but this did not alleviate the agricultural crisis. The main reasons for this are only 50 percent disbursement of crop loans through banks, exploitation by moneylenders and microfinance self-help groups, the doubling of cultivation costs leading to an uncontrolled debt burden, complete soybean crop failure, only 40 percent of the cotton crop surviving where as the government's assistance was meager, further exacerbating the agricultural crisis.

In 2025, Yavatmal district recorded a record 446 suicides, followed by Amravati with 396, Akola with 388, Buldhana with 343, Wardha with 224, and Washim with 212 farmer suicides.  Many of these suicides involve young farmers and tenant farmers who do not have land ownership documents (7/12 extract), and therefore, these suicides are not officially recorded by the government. The number of tenant farmers, who cultivate land on lease, is as high as 50 percent in every village. They do not receive government crop loans or compensation for crop losses moreover, they are obligated to pay the land rent even if the crop fails.  This has led to a significant increase in suicides among farmers without land ownership documents this year, as they are heavily indebted to private moneylenders, microfinance companies, and cooperative credit societies run by political leaders in villages.  The government, the administrative machinery, and all political parties are unwilling to address this serious issue.  Kishore Tiwari has expressed concern that if the government does not implement measures such as improving credit availability, improving seed quality, changing cropping patterns, reducing cultivation costs by 50 percent, and declaring a state bonus on minimum support prices, the agricultural crisis and farmer suicides will increase dramatically in 2026.
