Vidarbha widows to oppose Govt. Mega Multi-Crore Nagpur Farm Expo ‘ Krishi Vasant’

starved 10,000 farm widows and three
million distressed vidarbha farmers who are committing suicides since 1995 due to mounting debt and successive cotton crop
failure in last ten years ,have urged union Govt. to spent more than Rs.45
Crore on so called Biggest ever farm
expo in the country from Feb 9-13 at CICR, Panjri (Nagpur )on Wardha
Road terming it as wasteful expenses and
urging them to give this fund to 10,000 for rehabilitation dying vidarbha farm
widows who are innocent victim of agrarian crisis due wrong policies and MNC owned
technologies promoted of union Govt. ,Kishore Tiwari of Vidarbha Janandolan Samiti (VJAS) activist group working for rights
of cotton farmers and farm widows since 1997 in vidarbha region urged Govt. in
a letter to Union
agriculture minister Sharad Pawar whose Brainchild is this mega expo.
‘as
part of protest and press the demand of giving this fund released for mega
agriculture fair for food security of farm widows ,we are starting hunger
strike before CICR Nagpur till mega expo is not cancelled’ Bebitai Bais president
of vidarbha farm widows association said.
‘When
vidarbha is being known as ‘farm capital’ of India, now a day’s Nagpur city is
getting popular as capital of ‘Farm Agro Expo’ capital of India as earlier last
month another mega agro expo. was organized last month by another political
leader ex-BJP national Prez. Nitin Gadkari
and lakhs of framers were brought
and technology and crop practices shown to them which are beyond the
capacity and suitability rain fed farmers
but there was not single seminar of cost credit and sustainability of
agrarian economics ,Agro expo. Has been multi crore earning activity of politician
hence we want to stop’ Arpana Malikar KBC fame farm widow added.
When
more than 3 million farmers from vidarbha are still waiting relief aid amounting
Rs.3000 crore as Govt. is having fund crisis and now as additional chief
secretary SK Goel that Govt. has released Rs 45 crore budget for the event, Rs 10 crore
will be the state' contribution and Govt. is arranging around one million farmers from all over the country to visit Krishi
Vasant, the mega national farm exhibition is being organized from February 9 to
13 at the Central Institute of Cotton Research's sprawling complex at Panjri on
the outskirts of the city and all places of accommodation including 125 wedding
halls have been booked, when CICIR has govt. four regional centers and ICAR
centre in each district of India and promoting MNCs base technology which has main cause agrarian distress in
region resulting farm suicides this needleass waste expenditure of public exchanger
can be avoided and same mopny can be used of empowerment dying more than 10,000
farm widows who are innocent victims same MNCs techonology, Tiwari added.
