Atonement
(Prayaschit) of Ajitdada is hoax- Vidarbha farm widows punishment for 10,000
farmer suicides after ‘Irrigation scam’
Ajitdada Pawar over
his 'urination' remarks, which forced Nationalist
Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar to surrender unconditional apology for his nephew and Maharashtra Deputy Chief
Minister the insensitive remarks targeting drought-hit farmers is not getting over yet
as today Ajitdada Pawar is starting one
day fast at karad before samathi of Sharad
Pawar mentor Maharashtra ex-chief
minister late Yashwantrao Chavan for so
called Atonement (Prayaschit) is termed as hoax by thousands vidrabha farm
widows whose husbands committed suicides in vidrabha agrarian crisis where 30
thousand crore ‘irrigation scam’ is directly responsible as his hands are soaked with the blood of over
10,000 farmers who committed suicide due to crop failure as water to protect
crop was siphoned out industry or money for irrigation project has been robbed
by Ajitdada Pawar associates hence real Atonement
(Prayaschit) is the criminal prosecution that will give a sense of some justice to the families
of those farmers who ended their lives but he is being protected by UPA Govt.
at the centre and Maharashtra Govt. who is running on clutches ,has made him
too arrogant to continue any constitutional post hence hundreds of vidrabha
farm widows will start counter fast if Ajitdada continue is Atonement (Prayaschit) is more
as this is adding further fuel drought hit dying farming communities
hardship, claimed Kishore Tiwari of the Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti.
“If money was indeed
given towards irrigation projects, debt-trapped Vidarbha farmers would have
benefited from it and we may not have had the number of suicides by farmers.
This is why we believe that this siphoning off of money is nothing short of
large-scale murder and criminal action must be initiated against the ministers
hence this demand ” Tiwari said
“Ajit Pawar should not only be
sacked but sent to a mental asylum via Yerwada Jail . This is the man who
created the irrigation and water crisis in the state and now he’s rubbing salt
on the farmers’ wounds. His remarks only reflect his attitude and
non-sensitivity towards farmers” Bebitai
bais ,president Vidrabha Farm widows Asoociation (VFWA) urged.
Farmers’
advocacy groups in Vidarbha allege that Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)
leaders Ajit Pawar, deputy chief minister of Maharashtra
and water resources minister Sunil Tatkare are responsible for a lot more than
the multi-crore irrigation scam. On July 1, 2006, prime minister Manmohan Singh
had announced a special Rs3,750 crore relief package for Vidarbha, during a
visit to Nagpur .
Of this amount, Rs2,800 crore was to be used to improve irrigation facilities
in the region, as acute water scarcity had increased the farmers’ distress.
“Wonder
where all that money and the Rs30,000 crore given additionally for irrigation
went, as irrigation facilities today are not any better than they were in
2006,” said Tiwari
The
neglect of development of irrigation facilities in Vidarbha has been a regular
issue of debate, with the blame being put on western Maharashtra
politicians who have controlled the state irrigation department
.
