Cotton Farmers Demand Rs.9000/- MSP  and Economic Bailout Package in Protest  Rally

Massive cotton farmers protest rally organised at pandharkawada disst.yavatmal,Veteran farm activist Vijay Jawandhia urged the central govt. to raise Minimum Support Price MSP of raw cotton from Rs. 6300/- to Rs.9000/- and special ecomonic bailout package to 8 million distressed cotton growers of mahrashtra  who are killing themselves due to cotton crisis .
along with rise in MSP of cotton ,in order to central should purchse 10 millions bells of lint and offload it internationally @ subsidizsed  rate in order to save cotton economy of india  Kishore Tiwari farm activist informed today in the press release.
cotton farmers burned raw cotton which is lying in theier houses dur to present  price crisis as this year cotton crop has been cultivated in record 10.2 million hector as cotton rate last year touched Rs.14,000/- but this year initially 40 % cotton crop damaged due to excessive rain but major cotton crisis started as cotton prices slashed from Rs.14,000/- per quintal to Rs.7,500/- per quintal which has been forcing cotton farmers who are debt trapped to kill themselves as Maharashtra reported more than 3300 farmers suicides  in  Vidarbha, Marathwada, Khandesh and  North Maharashtra  hence  Government should announce a subsidy of Rs.5 thousand per quintal and economical package  8 million  cotton farmers in Maharashtra, hunderds farmers passed resolutions today ,Kishore Tiwari farm activist informed today in the press release. 

The cotton is main cash crop of Maharashtra being cultivated in the 80% dryland area of Maharashtra and controls the rural and agriculture  economy of backward  region Maharashtra if proper intervention is not done timely ,the prevailing hostile environment will result in mass genocide of cotton growing farmers ,Tiwari added.  

This year cotton export is dropped from 6 million bales to 2 million and to protect the the interest of textile mill owners there is record import  3 million bales import of cotton in india thus anti cotton farmers policies has fueled the crisis .the prevailing rate of cotton is only due to strong Doller against the rupee otherwise cotton rates will tumbled to Rs.6000 per quintal below the minimum support price (MSP),Veteran farm activist Vijay Jawandhia said today .
