Maharashtra first “Pani Parishad-water council” on 28th April in Pandharkawada –Times of India Reports.

The vidarbha jan andolan samiti (VJAS) is organizing a one day “Pani Parishad-water council” on 28th April at Pandharkawada-based Agrasen bhavan to discuss various aspects of the ongoing water crisis due to drought and acute water scarcity.

According to the general secretary of VJAS ,Mohan Jadhav ,over 20,000 villages across vidarbha and marathwada regions of Maharashtra are reeling under unprecedented water scarcity .the people and cattle have been hit by the scarcity ,and it is need of the hour to ensure drinking water ,food and employment to suffering villages,he added.

The meet will discuss the pros and cons of the problems at length and pass resolutions to draw attention of the state government towards the demands .The VJAS is demanding drinking water to all drought hit villages ,facilities for fodder,food,health and employment and implementation of “Ekatmik vihis punarbharan kariyakarma- Integrated water recharging programm” thorugh EGS ,waiver of old dues and to provide fresh crop loans to all farmers and a CBI probe in to cprruption in irrigation and water shade management work under prime minister relief package .
