“If Maharashtra Govt. fails provide drinking water to more than 15460 water scarcity hit villages in drought declared vidarbha then farmers will start indefinite national or state highway blockade in their village and will further intensify the stir if the demands are not fulfilled ,this was unanimously resoled to in vidarbha jan andolan samiti (VJAS) has s organized a one day “Pani Parishad-water council” on 28th April at Pandharkawada-based Agrasen bhavan and given the indication that now sentiments of distress farmers are running high and create the law and order problem for administration if the apathy towards the hardships of crought hit farmers is continued further “ Kishore Tiwari president of vidarbha jan andolan samiti (VJAS) informed in press note today.
Today vidarbha jan andolan samiti (VJAS) has s organized a one day “Pani Parishad-water council” on 28th April at Pandharkawada-based Agrasen bhavan to discuss various aspects of the ongoing water crisis due to drought and acute water scarcity which was presided by prof H.M. Desarda Ex-Member Maharashtra Planning Board and thousands of farmers .
According to the general secretary of VJAS ,Mohan Jadhav , water crisis meet mainly discussed the hardship of rural population residing in over 20,000 villages across vidarbha and Marathwada regions of Maharashtra are reeling under unprecedented water scarcity .the people and cattle have been hit by the scarcity ,and it is need of the hour to ensure drinking water ,food and employment to suffering villages, he added.
Prof.H.M.Desarada ex-member Maharashtra planning board and senior agrarian economic while presiding the meet has seriously warned the administration and blamed the failure of Govt. for this water crisis .thes are wrong policies that are killing the farm economy and agriculture ,he added.
“Pani Parishad-water council” also discussed the pros and cons of the problems at length and pass resolutions to draw attention of the state government towards the demands .The VJAS is demanding drinking water to all drought hit villages ,facilities for fodder, food, health and employment and implementation of “Ekatmik vihir punarbharan kariyakarma- Integrated water recharging programm” thorugh EGS ,waiver of old dues and to provide fresh crop loans to all farmers and a CBI probe in to corruption in irrigation and water shade management work under prime minister relief package .
“There is drop of water level more than 5 meters and efforts are going to take out the water below 200 meters and dead stock in all water reservoir and dams .Govt. has spent more than Rs.5000/- on irrigation but failed to increase the irrigation area in the region .massive corruption in allotments of contracts has created this hostel situation .CAG and PAC have both confirmed the massive irregularities in the relief package but maharashtra govt. failed to take any action against erring officers and ministers ,we will atke up this issue any water crisis meet and demand C.B.I. probe in the matter” kishor tiwari of vidarbha jan andolan samiti (VJAS) informed in a press note today
